Boiler Repair Services

While most homes in the Northern Virginia region don’t have boilers, we think they’re a fantastic way to heat your home or business. Water is better at transporting thermal energy than air is because it warms up faster and stays warm for a longer period of time. With boilers, you also don’t have to worry about duct leaks, and they are overall more energy efficient than forced-air systems like furnaces.

But just like any other appliance in your home or business, sometimes a boiler can break. If you woke up one morning to a chilly house, or if you went to turn your boiler on for the season and it never came on, you probably need boiler repair. Dwyer is available 24 hours a day to repair your boiler—we will never leave you out in the cold when it comes to your boiler system!

Boilers 101

We often get the question, “What is the difference between a boiler and a furnace?” The answer is simple enough:

The main difference between a boiler and a furnace is that one operates using air, while the other operates using water. A boiler works by heating water that flows through pipes in your home or business. The flowing water generates heat which blows through your vents and creates that warm, cozy environment you enjoy in the winter.

In addition to the fundamental way boilers vs. furnaces operate, another difference is the maintenance that is required to keep both running well. With a furnace, you need to change or clean the air filter regularly. We recommend once a quarter. .

Boilers require a different level of maintenance. Boiler systems need a regular bleed of excess air. Air bleed times vary depending on the type of boiler unit you have, but we recommend giving us a call for boiler maintenance if your rooms are suddenly not getting enough heat.

The great news is that whether you have a boiler or a furnace, Dwyer Plumbing can service it.
